Problems always loading e-edition. Worst app ever

Forced on to this app. The previous app used for years had no issues using the E-Edition. This app has problems loading the paper for viewing. You have to get better!!

Where Are Tools?

Seems to work fine to read the e-edition, but where are the tool to manage your home subscription and account? To report wet or missing papers, to hold or resume delivery, to update payment info? This version is less than fully useful without these tools.

Some difficulty viewing pages as desired! Many times ok sections 1, 2, 3 then format/“rules” change= full, oversized ( beyond screen dimensions) that require additional steps to reorient to a readable format!

If zero was an option

The new google ads prevent reading the e addition. So after 30 years of subscription. I will have to pass. This is now just a ridiculous attempt at making money, no longer a news source.

Enjoy my Daily read

I continue to enjoy the Dispatch as it it more efficient than an actual paper. My only issue is the most recent version of the SW has bugs/glitches. Still workable however the maneuvering from page to page sometime jumps me to an entire different section.

Good or bad, it’s nice to have important news quickly.

I keep an eye on the Dispatch alerts for the daily Covid figures in Ohio as an indication of the progress or lack of same on controlling the virus.

i love the easy download when it’s working.

Latest enewspaper section is an improvement.

The zoom in and back out behavior is working pretty well, so now I can stay in swipe mode as I navigate through the e-edition. it can get out of sync, but I'm learning hitting the swipe button again usually gets it back in sync. I also really appreciate that if I accidentally hit a button that takes me out of the enewspaper, resuming now picks up where I left off instead reloading and taking me to back the front page.

Frustrating

I have not been able to access eNewspaper for the past two days. When I select the option I get a blank screen. I have restarted my iPad, signed-out and signed- in several time without success. Even when I am able to access the feature it is frustrating. In the middle of an article it reboots and takes me back to the front page. This happens multiple times during an hour long reading session. At other times it will freeze in the middle of a story preventing me from scrolling. Not sure how much longer I want to begin my day with such frustration.

Where’s the e newspaper???

Is there no longer an e paper on Saturday and Sunday? What’s going on? I’m only asking for minimal effort from you. Push a button. Post the e paper. Ain’t technology great!!!!

App review

This is awful. Have you people ever tried using it. The old version was a least better than this. Now when I want to read an extended article it will not go back to the original location. I want to double tap to enlarge an article so it is easier to read and tap again to return. This paper is so late with the news it’s called a history-paper. You are not going to keep readers unless you get things fixed..

Columbus Dispatch review

This dispatch app is horrible. I cannot find anything to read and stories only pop up one at a time—- it does not allow the reader to browse the newspaper. Do not expect any technical support. If you call for it, they only play music on hold. I am paid up for two years and cannot even access the paper.I am finished subscribing in the future.

Truly AWFUL App And Tech Support

I am a digital subscriber. Half the time the app tells me that “my quota” of articles read has been reached!!! No one answers the help line even though the voicemail prompt tells the caller,”Please wait until the next support person comes on the line.” Hint: they never do. Like the previous writer, I would have dumped them months ago were it not the only source of local news. I still may dump them. This is completely unacceptable service. Sloppy, inattentive, and BAD business practice.

Paperless version is gone!

What happened to the traditional version of the app? It gone! Time to cancel.

Nice but….

As I scroll and read through Top Stories, the app loses its place and sends be back to the top of the section. Drives me crazy because I like to go through the whole list and next thing I know, I am back at the top. I try to find the article I was on and find the articles are in a different order or not there. So strange. I read the New York Times and Washington Post too in my phone and have 0 issues.

Bad news!!

TERRIBLE!!!!! Like the paper ! Support unresponsive like its editor who does answer emails. Why give your email address and then don't respond? Can not get E-paper after spending $500 in subscription!

Should have left this alone

The new app for the Dispatch needs a lot of tweaking. Barely touch a page and it changes. Pages don’t “fit” anymore. The former app was so much easier to use and navigate. A rating of 4.2 is a fraud.

This is a horrible app!!!

I don’t know if it’s an Apple problem or an app problem but this is the worst app I’ve used on my iPad. It is glitchy and unresponsive, and WAY too many ads for something I pay a subscription for. The only reason I pay for it is to follow OSU football, and that is a chore on this app. The Plain Dealer used to have an app this bad and made it so much better—-now it’s a pleasure. Hey Dispatch—maybe reach out to them!!

Columbus Dispatch

Far and away the worst app I’ve ever used. No matter how many times I delete and reinstall, it’s the same lousy app. It doesn’t load efficiently. It won’t take my cookie choices, which is illegal in Europe by the way. It’s just terrible.

Fix it!

The app makes it impossible to read the comics on my phone. The extra adds pop up and screw up the page. Fix it or I’ll cancel my subscription. The comics are the only thing worth reading most days .

Bad, bad

Been a very long time subscriber to enewspaper and today after longing in I get the royal run-around. Either tries to get me to scribe, which I am already, or leaves me high and dry. If you’re having problems at least give me a message that you’re having problems. This situation not acceptable

Keeps jumping back to page 1

This is very irritating. I have to flip through to get back to where I was. If I want to go back to page 1 I know how to do that. Please correct this irritating issue!

Consistently treated as a non-subscriber

Is it poor cookie retention? Poor app design? Poor digital page design or lack of customer experience of entry points to the app? I’ve been a 23-year Columbus Dispatch subscriber, yet I’m consistently treated as a non-subscriber. I’ll click on a URL for a Dispatch article & instead of linking to my logged-in profile, or even presented with an option to log in, I’m only offered ways to subscribe as a new customer. When seeking help with my print subscription, I’ll go in to the app, click on Subscriber Services, then despite being logged in, I’m only offered ways to subscribe. This app needs a MASSIVE user experience overhaul.

Vacation Stop & Subscription change

I’m pretty upset with the “we’re updating the software” and the same auto phone message from the phone number. I want to do a vacation stop and make a change to my subscription. I would like the e-paper and Sunday print only. Meanwhile the papers are on my driveway and that’s a red flag!

Clunky navigation

This app has good graphics and magnifies easily, but it is very difficult to find past issues (or return to current issue). If there’s a help video to understand site navigation, it’s impossible to find. There are lots of pop-ups on top of the heavy advertising that a paper already has.

New update

The updated e newspaper app stinks. Where are the other papers that used to be available to read!?

Just horrible!! I am faced with pop up adds in a paid subscription!Unacceptable

Having just reestablished service with the new bill I am now only able to open in a format that includes pop up ads and limited screen flexibility. No horizontal flip for wider larger view. Junk that I cannot remove from bottom of screen. The paper is a general disappointment on a good day and these new inconveniences are not acceptable.

I am using the app for free and can get most stories. Nice access.

Click bait disguised as news stories

I’m disappointed in this app and the compromises made to make it profitable. I got the paid app to avoid all the ads. However, the paid app just means I can see more stories. I understand the economics of maintaining an app but that doesn’t justify allowing ads to look Ike news stories, intermingled throughout, making me weary to click to open a story. The ad” notice is in small white font and due to placement, appears as a news valid story. Click bait is a disgrace to long standing of the dispatch as a trusted news resource.

I am satisfied except politically

I love the app and read the Dispatch every day. I am able to do that because I am retired. The only thing that bugs me is the rather obvious liberal, Democratic slant especially in the headline put on articles. Sometimes the headline of the article seems more liberal than the actual content of the article. I suspect that’s because it helps the Dispatch sell more newspapers because most readers are not retired.

This app does not work properly; not one day since it’s launch has it loaded with the new edition. It is difficult to scroll. There is nothing good I can say about it. Seriously disappointed. You have ruined my morning coffee routine.

I I am 71 years old. Love newspapers but unfortunately due to where I live I can only have digital format. This format is fabulous when it comes to enlarging print, colored pictures and extended reading material BUT trying to navigate the site is a challenge and appears to change every day. HELP!

Difficult Page Advance

The new system requires specific advance > button rather than a simple swipe of the page to advance. Very annoying and unfriendly.

Slow, slow, slow!!

This app loads pretty slowly most of the time (iPhone 13). Today, the e-newspaper refuses to load. Disappointed.

Constantly drops. Screen jumps when trying to read. Major disappointment with the update.

Don’t want to see pop up ads

I am a paying subscriber to the app version of the paper. I should not be receiving pop up ads. The previous version did not do this. How do I turn off the ads?

Not my favorite style of website —dislike how unstable is the enewspaper and having to reload pages a lot using my iPad by the way the ads that pop up in front of the pages are ver annoying — waste of time

Inserts overlay ads on a paid subscription

The app inserts additional overlay ads over top of the newspaper page. You have paid for a subscription and then are forced to see overlay ads before you can read the page you paid for.

Undependable App

Always a gamble if the app will open the Columbus Dispatch. Frequently fails to open paper; just get blank page. App will fail waiting for annoying pop-up ads. Can get all kind of miscellaneous stories today but again can’t get paper to open. Ready to drop this paper and go back to Washington post. They know how to program an app.

So, I finally finish yesterday's newspaper...

So, I finally finish yesterday's newspaper. Now, how do I get to today's edition of the Dispatch? Normally, I simply close yesterday's edition and today's comes onscreen automatically. Not today. This edition of the Columbus (OH) Dispatch must have been designed to turn people away from using it. The only way I can get back to the current edition is to delete, then redownload the app. Not a good way to win subscriptions and influence readers.
